Developed by MIT-trained engineers, Function of Beauty is a flexible suite of hair care products that consumers can customize to their precise hair needs, goals and preferences. Via an online tool, shoppers input their hair type, styling objective, preferred product color and scent. Proprietary mixing technologies combine customers’ preferences into a product formula that serves each buyer’s personal hair care goals. Products are purchased online and shipped directly to consumers.

Custom-Colored Makeup Palettes Created Online
Direct-to-consumer makeup brand Finding Ferdinand lets shoppers customize their own lipstick colors and makeup palette assortments. When creating a custom lipstick shade, consumers can choose from preset colors or create a shade from scratch. Makeup palettes can be customized to include any assortment of blush, highlighter and bronzer from a variety of color choices. Each component in the palette has a removable magnetic base, allowing for an easy replacement and for constant updating and customization.
